Set in a 40 acre wooden landscape surrounding the magnificent Gludy Lake, this is an ideal base for a relaxing get away in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.

As soon as you turn into the drive and wend your way along towards the seven and a half acre lake, you will know that you have arrived in one of the most tranquil settings in Wales

Bracken Lodge offers comfortable, affordable accommodation for up to seven people - but even more if you can make use of the sofa beds and put-you- up beds which are available on request. Four comfortable bedrooms - one double, two twin bunk beds and three twin bunks will all be furnished with sheets, soft pillows and cosy duvets. In the lounge, large bay windows open up a wonderful view of the lake and patio area. Our quiet rural location means that television reception is not good. But instead, have a break from television and enjoy our library of DVDs. The fully equipped kitchen provides all you could need including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave cooker, fridge/freezer, a toaster and kettle.

With an extensive range of crockery and cooking utensils you'll have everything you need to create enjoyable meals in the dining room soaking up the wonderful views of the lake. The bathroom boasts a large corner bath, wash basin and separate electric shower to help you to relax before retiring to reflect on a wonderful day and to plan for tomorrow All guests are welcomed with a pack comprising tea, coffee, sugar and milk. so that you can enjoy a cuppa while you unpack and familiarise yourself with the lodge and its surrounding grounds. Let us know in advance if you would like us to provide locally sourced groceries which could include seasonal fruit and vegetables, bread from the local bakery, fresh eggs, organic sausage and bacon, organic cereal, milk and local cider, ales or apple juice. We will shop to your requirements but of course, there will be an extra charge for this service.

Bracken Lodge is perfectly situated within the exclusive 40 acre estate where privacy, peace and tranquillity are taken for granted. We encourage guests' access to explore certain areas of the private ancient woodland walks around Gludy Lake and grounds which boast a fantastic display of spectacular wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for one of our resident kingfishers and the otters and ospreys feeding at the lake.

If you are privileged enough Dave our peacock (or Dafydd to his friends) may proudly display his full plumage for you to see! Watch the fish rise to the evening hatch of flies, the families of widgeon, teal and mallard at the edges of the lake and in the skies above, you may be lucky enough to see the Red Kites soar on the thermals.. Spend a little time foraging wood from the extensive woodland walks and in the evening, weather permitting, why not dine al fresco, making use of our patio area furnished with a stylish teak table and chairs seating six guests.

Our stone BBQ / fire pit has proved a popular method of cooking by our guests, converting to a cosy campfire once the meal is devoured. Other things taking up your time during the day? - Don't worry - we're happy to provide a generous stack of pre-cut logs for you by prior arrangement.

With over 500 square miles of mountains, river valleys, rolling farmland and woods, The Brecon Beacons National Park offers a wealth of locations for all kinds of outdoor activities. Within a few miles of Bracken Lodge you will find:

Fishing -Gludy Lake is on the doorstep of the lodge. We offer excellent fly fishing facilities for both beginners and the experienced angler.
